One of your choices is VARPG. I keep mentioning the VARPG choice because you can do what you want to do all in one program. VARPG F-specs allow both the iSeries files and the PC files to be accessed with F specs you already understand. The C specs are also just like you already know as are the O specs. The PC input and output files would be program described of course, and are processed sequentially. It works, is simple, and VARPG is free to you. The program would run on the Intel box but it can be started from the iSeries easily enough. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Date: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 14:46:29 To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Transferring files to and from AS/400 and an attached win2000 server I am hoping to initiate a process on an AS/400 running V4R5 that can retrieve a file from an attached Windows 2000 server, process that information and create new files on the AS/400 and then transfer those newly created files to the Windows 2000 server. Do I need to go through IFS? Can I FTP the files back and forth? If so do I need to translate EBCDIC to ASCII? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
