I'm not trying to detract from any of the answers given so far, BUT:

I don't think that anybody has addressed the big picture in relation to the 
original question posed.  There are other questions that need to be asked and 
answered here.

I don't think the original poster knows the implications of changing the key 
structure of a physical file.  This could (and will) have wide-ranging effects 
on the system.

1) I see that he doesn't have the DDS for the physical file, but does he also 
NOT have the source for any programs?

2) What about the need to recompile programs using this file, once changed?  
Any programs that use the physical file will need recompile, since the level 
identifier will change with the key structure change.

I think this is a much bigger issue than just being able to retrieve the DDS 
for the PF, changing it, and recompiling the file.
