First, "it was stated..."

By whom? How much authority? What is his/her projected longevity? How many
people have held that job in the last 36 months? Is this a case of "'Shut up
he explained" where facts are not relevant?

Can you use the "No of a thousand yes's" response? Or possibly this is a
case of dusting off your resume and getting out before the train leaves the
tracks?

Some battles can't be won. Best to abandon the battle field to more foolish
souls. My own suggestion is that you not worry about whether the idea is
bad or good, but rather focus your intellect and savvy on your own
professional survival. There's been way to much carnage in the profession
from these drive by shootings.

Do I sound cynical? Maybe.

Subject: Hypothetical question

Say your company had several instances of JDE globally, mostly running on
AS/400's. Say further that during a global meeting it was stated that the
direction of the company was to move from the AS/400 and iSeries to Sun
Solaris.

What are some key reasons that this would be a bad idea?
