If you really want to protect your PC, configure an old PC as a router (Linux, FLI4L) and put it between your PC and the internet. Or, shut down all services on your PC, install all necessary MS updates and stay away from Internet Explorer and Outlook. On my WinXP pro machine, I have no open ports (even netbios stuff turned off) and no problems (no PF, no virus scanners). I didn't even have the Blaster patch installed, but as the netbios ports are closed, Blaster didn't have a chance. Personal Firewalls are just an expensive form of snake oil and virus scanners aren't much better. Good luck, Oliver
