Chuck,

Can't be done with adopted authority. That group profile was the
clincher. Ran into the same problem. Never tried the profile handles
though.

I even opened up a pmr on that. Working as designed.

RE: Question on Creating User Profiles...

Thanks everyone for all of the answers and not ignoring any but since
Peter
has something similar to what I am using working, I'll pick on him :-)

Man, been awhile since I've worked with object authority and ALMOST forgot
what fun the commands are... DSPOBJAUT, RVKOBJAUT but try ADDOBJAUT or
WRKOBJAUT ? Nope, good ole WRKOBJ... :-)

Anyway, Peter what I have is a CL program that process a command.

So I have the command CRTPRFLIVE with:

                         Object
User Group Authority
QSECOFR *ALL
*GROUP QPGMR *ALL
*PUBLIC *EXCLUDE

and the CL with:
                         Object
User Group Authority
QSECOFR *ALL
*GROUP QPGMR *ALL
*PUBLIC *EXCLUDE

and in this CL and on the CRTUSRPRF it includes a GRPPRF(&GRPPRF)
OWNER(*GRPPRF) and I am getting CPF9802 Not authorized to object XXXXXX in
QSYS. XXXX is whatever Group Profile is specified in the program.

So what am I missing here ?

Thanks !

Chuck

We have a similar command. The program object that will process the
command
has
*QSECOFR authority. The command object has (besides QSECOFR / *ALL) the
specific user(s) that will use the command (with *USE authority) and
*PUBLIC
should be *EXCLUDE...
