We have a vendor that emails us invoices in fix-length ascii text file
attachments and we use them to post to accts payable. for the last week
or so, they've been arriving in various states of dissaray: sometimes,
in the middle of a record, it will repeat the last 10 or 12 characters or
so, sometimes it will skip a few characters, throwing the entire record
format off. sometimes there are 1 or 2 errors in the file, sometimes
there are a bunch, sometimes there are none. Sometimes if they send the
same file twice, the changes are different.

at first, i assumed that it was just a problem at thier end - but to test,
I had her email - the same attachment in the same email - a good file (at
her end) to both my yahoo account and my work notes account at the same
time.

I received the yahoo file via a browser, and it was perfect - the same file
recieved by the work account was bad.

has anyone heard of such a thing?

we use domino/notes R5, McAffee enterprise virus scanner and trendmail for
notes email scanner at the server level.

can anyone give me an idea of where to look for this problem?

Thanks,

Rick
