No easy way, but a couple things come to mind. CPYFRMIMPF will throw the first record out for you, and copy the rest, but only if it finds a field that won't fit or is alpha when it's expecting numeric. It throws an error though. you could monitor for the error (CPF2845) and check the file yourself - the problem is that the message doesn't tell you how many records were omitted, but you do get a message (CPC2955) telling how many records WERE copied. If you can trust that if you got ANY records, then the copy ran ok, this would be a way to do it. hth, Rick ----original message------- Anyone have any better ideas for deleting the first line (headings) in a stream file in the IFS?
