The 2000 byte size limit for data area happened to coincide with the original max size for a CLP character variable. BTW, 4Mb was the max for a model 7. The original models were the 3 & 5. The 3 could have as little as 512Kb and the 5 maxed out at 2Mb. IIRC, CPF Rel 6 required about 100Mb of DASD and it was much bigger than the earlier releases.
