judging from these results:

 > /usr/bin/zip
qsh: 001-0079 Process ended by exception 9901.
   $
 > /usr/bin/unzip
qsh: 001-0079 Process ended by exception 9901.
   $

yes it is needed.

I hope I should not know this about the relationship between QShell and
PASE, but here goes:

That webpage says to copy the binary to /usr.bin, in order to be able to
run it from QShell, When running zip or unzip in QShell, does QShell know
it's a PASE executable and, therefore, QShell uses qp2cmd or whatever? IOW,

to run zip from QShell, does PASE still need to be running? We don't have
PASE on the V5R1 box.

Thanks
Vern
