I don't believe there is a physical size difference between a 6606 & 6607. I can't find anything that supports that statement but I really think a 6607 is a compressed 6606.
But to answer your question, yes, the machine will recognize the drive.
One other question:
Because of the somewhat larger physical size of the 6607s, it might be necessary to rearrange the physical locations of the other drives in order to physically fit the 6607s into the drive bays.
If I change the physical location of a drive that's already in the system, will it still be recognized?
