Current shop has a mixture of home-brew and purchased software. Built a /Win2k_Server/Tomcat4.1/Axis/Java web services layer over 15 or so major business components and integrated with external applications. Works like a charm, especially if you read the http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/index.html page before you start.
