Please forgive all of the questions, but if this is the case why not use
CPYF or CRTDUPOBJ to put these copies where you want them rather than go
through the effort of a restore from tape?

situation?

Yes we could, but we are only restoring 150 objects from one library using
the month-end backup into a different library for reporting purposes.
STRRCYBRM is interactive and selecting or keying in the 150 objects each
month is tedious. Creating a media definition each month with the correct
volume i.d.'s then calling a CL would make it a lot more efficient. A
control group that saves only the 150 objects would also work but with our
SLA, we only have time to save production, restore to the reporting
library, and get the system up on time.
