Oh, I understand Jeff, but my experience has been pretty positive doing
things over the net. I interact with Compaq/HP, Cisco, Sophos, etc. via
email tech support and the nice thing is you have a "paper trail". You can
give them detailed information that they have in front of them. They can
give you detailed replies, etc. and no one has to write a bunch of stuff
down, ask them to repeat it, etc. I am NOT saying this is a total
replacement for the phone because I still use that with all of them too, it
is just another tool to use as you see fit ;-)

Understood.  I'll probably do that from now on.

But it really gripes me when these instances occur, the advice is (and I'm
not picking on you) "just do it on the net".  Why can't companies get these
things right?
