If you've got the disk space, and you've never tried to use the image catalog method of installing the PTF's, now would be a good time to try it. The documentation that comes with the CD's takes you through the process very easily. Make sure, however, that you look in the documentation for any PTF's that need to be installed and applied prior to loading up the CUME. I found one a couple of weeks ago that I had to manually install on a V5R2 box, and it needed an IPL to get it permanently installed. Even then, I was able to load up the image catalog prior to performing the manual PTF installation. I simply re-booted the machine from home to install that one PTF, and then I proceeded with working from the image catalog. After that, everything was easy. Pre-load your image catalog this week, and dial in from home over the weekend.

Paul Nelson
Arbor Solutions, Inc.
708-670-6978 Cell
pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx

mwalter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx
06/29/2004 09:56 AM AST
Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion

To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
cc:
bcc:
Subject: PTF's

hello all,

I was wondering, being that this is a holiday weekend, it's a good weekend
to do an IPL in order to apply a CUM, Hipers, and Groups.
