We have been doing this for years to capture screens to insert into our training simulator. We use STRCPYSCN to capture the screens. The tricky bit is getting them to the PC, since different programs trash the attribute bytes in different ways. I like FTP, since it maps the EBCDIC attribute bytes into consistent ASCII characters. Client Access data transfer, on the other hand, maps all attribute bytes to the same character. (When I complained, IBM actually said this was a feature, not a bug.) We wrote a program that converts attribute bytes in the downloaded file into HTML tags. That way, we can plop the screen into a web document or Word. We use Paint Shop Pro to capture GUI screens, such as iSeries Navigator. It's cheap and has everything I ever needed plus some. Bill William A. Hansen Manta Technologies Inc.
