This sounds like the communications are dropping. Could be physical, in the sense of your cable(s) getting damaged, or could be OS-software related. It appears you already know what you should probably do, and that is to get current on the cume PTFs. Beyond that, see if there are any comm logs that can give you a clue, or run problem analysis on the messages that appear in QSYSOPR. BTW, it *is* possible to setup workstation configs so that you can recover a dropped session without having to sign on again. I thought there was a system value that enables/disables this, but I couldn't find it. In Client Access, workstations must explicitly specify a session name. And, if the apps are designed correctly, an interactive app can be recovered and return to where it was when the session dropped. (Better to do this when the program is being developed/designed.) hth, db
