IBM is not the only guilty party here....Go out to java.sun.com and you will
see the same confusion.  The BIG offense here is that java can be a
programming language, a framework, and tools.

Your Andy Rooney $0.02 worth is very valid and is an industry standard
unfortunately.

Actually the correct acronym is WBI..... :-)

Truth is, even IBM supportline staff are frequently confused by
this "branding".  I have actually confused IBM supportline
"operators" when referring to VARPG as "Websphere Development
Studio Client for iSeries" or MQSeries as "Websphere MQ".  Seems
they immediately focus on the word Websphere and route the call
to the WAS support group.  I now use the "old" product name when
opening supportline calls.

Not to sound like Andy Rooney but..

Have you ever wondered about IBM's approach to branding and marketing?
Anyone remember the advertising campaign that touted integration
middleware/software that ran on 30+ platforms?  The ad NEVER even
mentioned the products name!  I wonder how many calls the IBM Sales
team received in direct response to that ad!!  What product would
a "potential" customer be asking for?  Websphere? Websphere what?

Just my 2 cents worth.......

BI runs on top of MQ Series (now known as Websphere MQ). Websphere MQ
Express is a low cost MQ Series that runs on Windows or Linux. It's
really nice code.
