Doesn't it already sequence them from a data area? I suggest you turn on
journalling, as recommended and see what it does for the mime file.
Journalling for email is documented here
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/ic2924/index.htm
Networking
  TCP/IP applications, protocols, and services
      E-mail
        Troubleshoot e-mail

Although I have been tempted to change that logic from a 3 digit sequence
to a UUID. We generate 1,500+ emails a day, from several different
processes, using that program. The closest thing we have to a conflict is
when email is down for a day. I do have a pmr open with Notes/IBM in
which they'd like me to change the logic to create a duplicate of the mime
file in another directory. We have a case where the email is getting
routed to the wrong person on occasion. Looks great in the journals -
just need a snapshot of that mime file. Bad enough when some outsider
gets a PO that he has no idea what to do with it. But on occasion someone
complains that they didn't get their paystub in the email and it makes me
wonder who got it. We did do a WRKJOBSCDE to rearrange all jobs around
the printing and emailing of paystubs.

RE: Little help on email using SNDDST or QtmmSendMail

ok, i get it now - i only had the programs, no story, documentation etc.

I though I had to create the MIME file, not the other way around. Just
tested it, and it worked like a charm!

so, should I set it up to randomly name my MIME file to avoid conflicts
with other possible SNDEMAILs happening at the same time?

Thanks,

Rick

I think you are confused. The MIME file is created on the fly. The other
file parameter is for an attachment.
