Why don't you have a sockets program listening on the AS/400? Then you can
control what you want sent yourself.
You would have to be able to select a different port on the telnet emulation
program, but that's not a big deal.

How about using the standard TN5250 support? Do you have iSeries
Access,
which has an emulator? An AS/400 will do all the formtting for you.
Can you
say more about why use the simple telnet? There are also a number of

emulation apps out there, including some Java ones.
