I just found out that some software is keying to the lpar id.  So now I 
guess I know why David wants a simple way to know what partition.  And as 
far as downloads and api's go it's sometimes difficult to convince an end 
user to download something, or call an api, just so they can fill out the 
partition id on a key request form.

On i5's you cannot do a STRSST, 5. Work with system partitions.  That's 
what the HMC is for.

I think a DCR might be a good idea for this.  It should either be in a 
system value, or show up in WRKLICINF.  But I'll leave that up to the 
software distributors.
