You have three things that SWA has traditionally had to wait for:

1. Obtaining an object lock.
2. Getting to a commitment control boundary.
3. Waiting for the change of a file through SQL or CHGPF

Now they are more granular. Many commitment control users were literally
locked out of SWA, and this overcomes the limitation. I have tested it,
and it works well.

Has anyone used the save while active parameter when doing backups? If so,
exactly how do the parameters function with "checkpoint" and "pending
record change" logic?

If many files are left open, are the backups delayed significantly? I have
heard that, at one time, this set of parameters were either not working as
advertised or causing other troubles.

Whatever knowledge you can lend would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.
