I assume you are local to the AS400 so all ports would be open. Telnet uses one, client access uses is share.

Start a dos session and do a

cwbping as400name/or ip address

and see if all the services are started and can be accessed. Also some place in client access is a verify connection that will tell you more of what is going on. I go through a firewall for one connection and a port is blocked and I have to wait for it to time out.

We did Start/Run Telnet to the AS/400 and it worked just fine.
