Correct - we've been using kilometers for many years.

Yup.  And of course Canadian pints/gallons were based on the English version
and weren't the same as yours anyway.  We buy gas, milk, wine, etc. by the
litre.  We also use kilos for weight, but admittedly most stores will weigh
it out fore you in pounds if you wish.
