Sorry to be late to this discussion but I'm trying to wade through my 5000+ emails - I love the list but am I the only one this far behind?

Not sure how things are on your side of "the pond" but there are 400's around that someone will give you if you'll haul it off. Finding one is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. You might start with a local midrange user group or consultants in your area. Check with them often - squeaky wheel.

Subject: Optimistic RPG request...

I have been unemployed for sometime. One of the last things I got
before being made redundant was a programming in RPG/400 tutorial book.
I was wondering, in a mad fit of optimism, is there such a thing as a
freeware PC RPG compiler that I can use to teach myself with? I just
need it to be 'stand alone' on the PC - I don't have an AS/400 lying
around in the garage. It doesn't even need to generate executable
programs - just check my syntax and confirm that the program would work.
OK, I know I'm pushing my luck, but sometimes to get pertinent answers
you have to ask impertinent questions!!!
As I'm here, a general thank you to all the posters throughout the years
who have helped my SQL come on in leaps and bounds - at least that is
something I can practise on my PC!
