JPG with about 75% loss will give good quality and save scads of room and
give fast performance times.   Also, save as black & white, not color.

We're scanning them and keeping them as Proof of Delivery.    Also
scanning BOL's and other related docs.
 
They will keep the originals somewhere, for insurance claims.
 
We will use the images to show them on the web to customers.
 
Mike:  I'm writing a "poor mans" imaging system for my customer
trucking companies.  It's ready to go live next week.    Don't you
work for Estes?  You did a nice job on the website.
