Any suggestion on printing from within a CL program ?

We have a requirement where we need to create a log of all the status
messages being sent out from within our CL program. We want to implement
something similar to the *PRINT option available in most IBM commands.
Instead of writing an RPG program to print, i am trying to see if there
are some techniques using either QShell or C procedure calls, that i
could use to implement this within the CL program.

We currently use  TAATOOL PRINT command to do this within our
applications during the testing phase,  but i do not want to use this,
since it would not be available on other machines that we want to send
this program to.

Any ideas would be welcome
