For Network Atributes, System Reply Lists, System Values etc. 1) On old system create a temporary library. Run RTVSYSINF and store in this library. 2) On new system, restore the library from step 1 and run UPDSYSINF. If you are going to restore QUSRSYS and QGPL the new machine should have been ordered with the RISC to RISC migration feature, not Pre-loaded Software. This gives you a system with LIC and base OS/400. You can also take a system with pre-installed LIC & OS/400 back to this state by installing and initializing using the IBASE_1 CD (D IPL in manual mode). After you restore your old QUSRSYS & QGPL (and I'd restor eall other data too) you basically run a Release Upgrade using the V5R3 CD's, which will update QUSRSYS & QGPL to V5R3. Be careful with RSTCFG. Make sure you specify SRM(*NONE) when restoring to a new system. I prefer never to run RSTCFG. On the old system I run RTVCFGSRC *ALL *ALL to a source member. After restoring to the new system I use this source member to create a CL program to recreate the lines/controllers/devices - after searching and replacing resource names to the correct values (DSPHDWRSC *CMN will help with renaming resources) and deleting the IBM supplied lines/controllers/devices/modes etc. that are already on the new system. ...Neil Marc Rauzier <mrauzier@xxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 2004/11/30 02:45 To Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Re: Upgrade from 170 to new i520 Le mar. 30 nov. 2004 08:06:08, écrivait: > Hi all! AFAIK the only way to have this stuff restored is to use an OS400 restore (if you don't want them to manually retype or programmatically set). So the process would be to upgrade the 170 to V5R3M0 then perform a full backup (eg GO BACKUP, option 21), then perform a full restore on the i520 (scratch install of the microcode, the i5/OS then GO RESTORE, option 21 which is similar to your commands). -- Cordialement/Best regards Marc Rauzier
