Actually I think the connector is the same too. They mount on the PC board somewhat differently as I recall but that doesn't matter because you can save the holder. Both are a 3 battery NiCad pack.

Kirk, I may take you up on that pack for the 2748. In the /AS/400 Migrated Expansion Tower Problem Analysis, Repair and Parts V4R5/, the instructions for replacement bundles the 2740 and 2748 together. It also lists a NiCad battery return process, referencing a battery part number of RSFTC226 for both cards. Hmmm. More research.
