I think that is a combination of what used to be separate contracts. Like software subscription, etc. Rob Berendt -- Group Dekko Services, LLC Dept 01.073 PO Box 2000 Dock 108 6928N 400E Kendallville, IN 46755 http://www.dekko.com "Steve Landess" <sjl_abc@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 01/05/2005 04:32 PM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject IBM Maintenance alternatives LISTEN UP, IBM! My system administrator just told me that our BP (DSI) has notified us that IBM no longer offers 9x5 hardware maintenance contracts on 9406 systems. This machine is in the process of being relocated to St. Louis, MO., to one of our corporate data centers, to be used for disaster recovery purposes. The difference in price for us is around $ 24,000/yr (24x7 maintenance is 36,000, we were previously paying around $ 12,000 for 9x5 maintenance). SO - We are now looking for an alternative maintenance vendor. We don't need 24x7 maintenance, and we also _don't_ like IBM trying to strong-arm us into a 24x7 contract. Any suggestions?
