We got tired of that rigamarole so we dumped our 3570's, went to 3590's and are now on 3582's. Seemed ok for a week or two then errors started again, now they replaced the motor drive last week (possibly it wasn't pushing the tape against the reader heads properly, can happen, so the IBM bloke said), I think it is a new body next, can't be much else to change, think I'll ask for go faster stripes on the side, see if that helps. :-) Steve -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Jeff Crosby Sent: Monday, January 10, 2005 4:45 PM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: The dreaded 3570 tape drive rears its ugly head once again > For starters, can anyone provide a link to me to a manual for > a 3570 tape drive? I _had_ a 3570 (split config, defined as 2 drives) up until a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I sent the manuals back to the BP along with the drive. Once in a great while we would start getting media errors. Even though there is a cleaning cartridge inside that is supposed to automagically know when to clean, when those media errors occurred, I did a cleaning through the front panel. That always helped.
