<snip> I'm trying to find an old copy of V4R4 to test with a V5R3 system we have here. We're going to tell them to expect problems, but I was just wondering if anyone had experienced it not connecting at all. </snip> I have tried it and it will give you fits on anything but the basic function. That's due to the old SNA components and SOCKS support that is no longer there on the newer OS releases. 5250 emulation works alright, printer support is at best iffy.... You have given the correct response to the customer. If all they need is 5250 access, and the V4R4 CA gives them trouble, set up Host on Demand. Works great. Licensing may be an issue but I'll bet you could work something out. HATS is the better alternative. For basic emulation less than 1/2 day to get it running. Either way, no client to maintain on the desktop and even though it goes through the browser, response time is excellent (assuming a properly tuned box of course). Many of our clients are moving the HATS direction now until the iSeries Navigator is completely browser based. Jim Oberholtzer Senior Solutions Architect Computech Resources, Inc.
