I would strongly suggest that you not open up the ports to the internet directly. Doing so would let practically anyone access your system via those same ports. It's an open invitation to hackers. Rather, install VPN-capable equipment (IPSEC preferred) at either end and use the VPN to secure the data: (AS/400) -- (VPN) -- (Firewall) --/\/\/\Internet\/\/\/-- (Firewall) -- (VPN) -- (AS/400) Depending on your equipment, your routers and/or firewalls may already be capable of providing VPN services. What ports will I need to make sure are open on the firewalls, what menus do I need to go to, etc. Thanks, Scott Clark Information Technology Director Town of Fuquay-Varina 401 Old Honeycutt Road Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 Phone: 919-567-3900 Email: sclark@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
