Hi: I ran into more or less the same problem when upgrading a model 170 at Red Rocks Community College back in October of 2004. Here is what I did to "work around" this problem ... I did the install of the SLIC from the I_BASE_01 CD, and then loaded the OS/400 from the first few CDs... up through the loading of QGPL and QUSRSYS. Then, I IPLed, and once up and running under V5R3, I was then able to GO LICPGM and continue the installation of all of the rest of the optional parts of OS/400 and the other various LPPs from the virtual optical device (image catalog). That is not really a "fix" but a "circumvention" but this might help ...? Regards, Mark S. After the Image Catalog IPL I see the LIC decompression SRC's (C6xx41DC), then what appears to be an IPL (C1xx xxxx SRC's), then the system hangs at C6004001 (Static Paging) with no attention light. I never see the LIC install SRC's (C6xx41CC). I have applied the Image Catalog support PTF (SI10563), allocated the additional space for the new LIC and accepted all of the software agreements. SupportLine told me to remove QHLPSYS from the system library list, but I did that and the same thing happened again. Today they have me applying HIPER PTF's for Virtual Media support, but other than that we are fairly current on PTF's.
