Hi Roger The two lans are currently not connected - we are trying to print to the external IP port 9100. I can ping the printer from the AS400 but cannot start the printer from the AS400 - I have set up the printer from an XP Pro PC and have the same problem, you can see the printer set to 'Printing' and then to 'Printing Error' and then back to 'Printing' and so on. I suspect will need to connect the two lans together to get connectivity. Are the Sonicwall's VPN'd together? What is the Printer connection? Specifically the print server hardware and that should tell you what port it is working on. You have to know the port in order to CRTDEVPRT or CRTRMTOUTQ anyways. Most HP use port 9100. If the Sonicwall's are providing a VPN tunnel between them (the best option) then there is no other setup on them. If you are not using VPN you will have to create a "Service" on the printer network's Sonicwall for the port you are using, and then add a "rule" that uses that "service" and maps it to the destination IP. You will probably want to set this rule to only accept from the IP of the other Sonicwall. Be aware it probably takes a fair amount of bandwidth, in both directions, to make printing work reliably. Most DSL is ADSL which means the outgoing speed is half or less of the speed you are paying for. I think you are going to want 128Kbps actual speed at least. Much more if you are doing AFPDS/IPDS graphics.
