iseries rcv orders via email

I've been asked to look at upgrading an existing app to receive orders 
via email (currently uses 5250 data entry, or web data entry, or .csv 
import file). Looking for what works/doesn't work. Would definitely like
an automated hands off approach. Could be hundreds of orders per day.
Does email need to be text only/courier new 10cpi, or is there a way 
to process others? This is a small shop, no edi tools. system at v5r3.
Their customer wants to forward an existing email & not interested in changing 
their end.
