Our APRM product (which shipped on i5 this week) allows you to execute a CL command Acquire APRM Device (ACQAPRMDEV) to request that a device be brought to your partition. It takes a long time on i5 because the HMC is S L O W, but it works! The current version (V5R3M1) of APRM supports both the i5 and the prior models, and merely requires that you run V5R1 or higher) in each participating partition. See our website.
