As Chad suggests, my recollection is that QAUTVRT does not refer to
how many virtual device names may exist, but rather the maximum number
which can be auto-created.  Unlike Chad, I don't think this was a
recent change -- I always remember it acting this way.

I don't know where it keeps the current count of how many have applied
toward that limit, but I don't think you can simply look at existing
device names as a clue.

I'd suggest you increase the QAUTVRT value and see what happens.
