I called IBM on this and discovered that using concurrent maintenance to install more than one or two drives is a bad idea. What I need to do is power down the system and install the disks. After that, I do a manual IPL to put the disk into a parity set and add them into the system. They said that doing it this way will save a lot of long and involved conversations with the support center. Thanks for the help, Marc and Paul.
