Socket programming

 Good day,

I have been assign with creating a program to send a data file to a remote
server and receive a back a file in response.  I am currently on doing this
with a socket program using the secure port on the iSeries/400 V5r2.  The
problem I am having is the remote server requires a user id and password.
At present I haven't found any API's for doing this.  Does anyone have a
suggestion on how to accomplish this.
