Jim,

The capabilities of the Java Runtime Environment and .NET Common
Language Runtime are very similar but Java applications and tools have
had a few years to mature. The only real technology gap is not in what
they can do but on where they can run. For the most part, Java runs on
any platform where .NET runs on Windows.

I am curious about your statement above.  I don't disagree, but
believe
that it has more to do with training, attitudes and techniques within
the respective communities than the technology the developers are
working with.  Do you see significant gaps in the technologies?
