If you have a default value for a NULL-capable column in a file you are JOINing to and the record does not exist, do you get the default value or NULL? I've not yet found or seen a solution to missing fields in an outer join other than the IFNULL and COALESE (spelling?) function. I think it would be a big help to have an option where the default value for the field is returned, rather than NULL, which my standard RPG program don't handle too well. Maybe IBM will add it someday.... -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
