When we print a product list for a customer, I generate an index on-the-fly to reflect only the item groups actually printed. At LR time (cycle alert! cycle alert!) a subprogram is called that actually prints the index. Both programs have the print file name as PRINTER. In the CL wrapper I do OVRPRTF FILE(PRINTER) SHARE(*YES). The result is a single spool file, index at the end. The actual print can't get screwed up. Since yours is a single program, with print files of different names, a similar thing may not be possible. There _is_ a TOFILE parm in the OVRPRTF command, though I've never used it. A single spool file may not be beneficial in your case, either. Just an idea.
