Retrieving a spool file number

  Is there a way to retrieve the spool file number from a spool file at the
  time it is created? 
  I need to retrieve the user name and job number from the program status
  data structure but
  also need the spool file number to use a parameters to pass to another
  program.
   
  I looked in the archives but didn't find anything on this.
