So how does the price/performance of a p5 with an i5 partition stack up
to a and i5 with a Linux partition( I know next to nothing about the
hardware although it's been hinted around here the p5/i5 separation may
be a chimera). The disclaimer "i5/OS running on a pSeries server is
intended for customers who have a limited amount of i5/OS workload,
limited growth anticipated for this workload, and wish to consolidate
onto a single server where the majority of the workload will be either
AIX 5L or Linux." may just be a red herring to prevent p5's from
displacing i5's. However, given the incredible difficulties and hassles
I have had with IBM in becoming an IBM i5 reseller, the p5 option might
be a workaround?
