I'm having a similar issue transmitting to a large financial
institution.

If you are on V5R3 you can SFTP with OPEN_SSH

Below V5R3 you have several other options.

HTTPS using a product like GETURI from Brad Stone....good product but I
could not get into his web site last night.  I do have another client
using GETURI but not for HTTPS.

Scott Klement has a free OpenSource? product that will do HTTPS (I
think).

There is also an open source PGP encryption routine that others on this
list are using for the iSeries but I do not know a whole lot about it. 

Please let me know what you end up doing as I'm still trying to figure
out what I want to do for a V5R2 machine.  They originally offered dial
up but when I selected that method they said no!   I'm leaning towards
GETURI.
