A followup question on the original post:

Is there an IBM-supported way to reference an entire record format with one
statement in a PF definition so that there are no field-level definitions in
the source?

Something like:
A R RCUWUS REFFMT(DEVLIB/FILEA RFMTNAM)

would "duplicate" the RFMTNAM's fields from FILEA verbatim into this format.
