We had a power supply on our 820 but thanks to the redundant power
supply, we had zero down time on a fully loaded 820 and IBM showed up,
swapped out the failed PS and our user base never knew a thing had
happened. Paid for itself right there. Think of this as insurance, you
have it but hope you never need it.

We also have a large bank of batteries + generator backing up our power
to the iSeries, now a redundant 520.

Our BP configured our new i% 520 with a redundant power supply and fan
for an
additionsl $1300. Is this really necessary considering we have a big
pallet of
deep cycle batteries giving us an hours of battery backup?

Yeah. I know the batteries don't replace the power supply but .....

TIA,
