<laughing>  Yeah, installing an entire application might indeed require
an IPL.  In fact, applying group PTFs is generally a good time to do an
IPL.  Typically you apply group PTFs two to four times a year, so four
IPLs a year is not a bad deal, especially since you can indeed schedule
the downtime.

I don't understand this.  I just went to Fix Central and downloaded
group PTFs for two products which I have not yet installed (WAS Express
5.1 and WAS 6.0).  Portal is on the list; I can't see why you can't do
the same.
