It's like anything else...if the only tool you have is a hammer, then all
problems must be able to be solved with a hammer. The iSeries is the best
system on the market for the things it does well...and it does many things
well...but other boxes do other things better.

Shrug... It's not that the "box" makes a lousy e-mail server, it's that the software that's currently available for it is lacking.

If you wrote some good e-mail software for the iSeries, it'd be a great box for e-mail because the design (the features provided by SLIC, single-level-store, etc) would make that software more robust than the same thing running on a PC or Unix platform.

But, as it stands, there's just better software available elsewhere.
