I dropped the table, deleted the data area, recreated it with 
CRTDTAARA DTAARA(ROB/QDFTJRN) 
          TYPE(*CHAR) 
          LEN(30) 
          VALUE('ROB       QSQJRN    *FILE     ')
and that worked.  Thanks.
